Dear Mr. Butterick,

First things first, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise and say that we truly indeed admire the work that you do.

Based on the subject matter above and upon reading your post on your site, your contention is understandable and we deeply regret any further grievances caused.

Do know that at all material times, we had no intention whatsoever in stealing and/or claiming your work as our own and
Symbol.guide was created with the good intentions of creating a shareable repository of symbols for the like-minded designer. We had every good intention of giving you full credit for your work wherein we had placed your link above our very own (unfortunately, we aren't very trained in the arts of sourcing).

Should we have any ill intention, we would not be placing the link to your website at all. In any event, we have removed all your content from the following:

  • Ampersands
  • Copyright
  • Ellipsis
  • En-dash
  • Em-dash
  • Hyphen
  • Quotation marks

In the said circumstances, we think that your statement against us was most unnecessary. This could have easily been rectified with a simple email.

Nevertheless, we still apologise and hope that we can have an understanding on this matter.

– Poon & Marvin
